چکیده

This paper presents a new multi-scale geometric detail enhancement approach for time-varying surfaces. We first develop an adaptive spatio-temporal bilateral filter, which produces temporally-coherent and feature-preserving multiscale representation for the time-varying surfaces. We then extract the geometric details from the time-varying surfaces, and enhance geometric details by exaggerating detail information at each scale across the time-varying surfaces. Our approach can process mesh sequences with consistent connections or point sequences with unconstructed point set. In addition, as applications, based on the developed multi-scale surface representation and detail enhancement operators, we present geometric detail transfer, space-time morphing, and local regions detail enhancement for the time-varying surface.

Efficient feature tracking of time-varying surfaces using multi-scale motion flow propagation

This paper presents a framework for efficient feature tracking of time-varying surfaces. The framework can not only capture the dynamic geometry features on the time-varying surfaces, but also can compute the accurate boundaries of the geometry features. The basic idea of the proposed approach is using the multi-scale motion flow and surface matching information to propagate the feature frame o...

Conformal-Based Surface Morphing and Multi-Scale Representation

This paper presents two algorithms, based on conformal geometry, for the multi-scale representations of geometric shapes and surface morphing. A multi-scale surface representation aims to describe a 3D shape at different levels of geometric detail, which allows analyzing or editing surfaces at the global or local scales effectively. Surface morphing refers to the process of interpolating betwee...

Point primitives for interactive modeling and processing of 3D-geometry

3D geometry has become increasingly popular as a new form of digital media. Similar to other types of media data, i.e., sound, images, and video, this requires tools to acquire, store, process, edit, and transmit 3D geometry. With increasing complexity of 3D geometric models and growing demand for advanced modeling functionality, significant effort is being devoted to the design of efficient, r...

Interactive modeling of complex geometric details based on empirical mode decomposition for multi-scale 3D shapes

In this paper we develop an interactive modeling system for complex geometric details transformation based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) on multi-scale 3D shapes. Given two models, we aim to transfer geometric details fromonemodel to another one in an interactivemanner. Taking full advantages of the multi-scale representation computed via EMD, different-scale geometric details can be tr...

3D Textured Surface Modeling

Because object geometry varies at many scales, it is often convenient to distinguish shape from texture. While shape is a deterministic macroscopic description, texture is a finer scale geometric description with some repetitive or random component. The distinction between texture and shape is important when developing object recognition systems. Acquiring fine scale geometry is difficult due t...
